"The real man smiles in trouble, gathers strength from distress, and grows brave by reflection."

- Thomas Paine

There comes a point in our lives when we have to reflect.

Most people do it just before the New Year.

Most business owners reflect quarterly with analytic examinations and reviews.

Some use birthdays, the deaths of loved ones, or other major life events as a time to really examine where they are in life.

Whether you're experiencing a major life event or are feeling a wave of momentary gratitude, it's important to really look back and see how far you've come. Take a moment to really see who's in your corner and the resources that you might not have even realized are available to you.

One thing I've done is reflected on what I've invested in.

When you choose to invest into something, you've got to assess what you're willing to put in.

How big of a return are you looking for? What is the value of the work being brought forth? And ultimately, is it something that is worth putting your name on the line for?

For others, a time of reflection could mean a look back on everything that you have accomplished. It could mean making peace with a rough past, patching up old scars, understanding why a decision was bad, or re-examining certain relationships.

Reflection, at its core, should help you understand where you are right now and help guide your steps for your immediate future. Reflection centers you and adds balance to your everyday life. It keeps you humble, hungry and grateful for everything that you have.

There is power in recognizing the greatness in yourself and those around you. It is a humbling experience to know that the people in your circle add richness to your life with their diverse experiences, knowledge and backgrounds.

Take a moment to reflect this weekend and #GETAFTERIT
